From Fast Food to Direct Sales

Filed under: Direct Sales, Motivation, felt — Awnya Boam @ 3:53 am

Ok, I’ll admit it. When I was like 6, all I wanted to be was a McDonalds girl. Sad, I know. BUT-I can say that I reached my goal! I worked at McDonalds a total of 3 years. There were many things that I learned there, but what I want to talk about today is up-selling. If you aren’t familiar with this topic, it is basically when someone suggests to you that you should buy something else. At McD’s the big one was apple pies. (I don’t know why…but it was). With every order that I took, I was to ask, “Would you like to try one of our hot apple pies today?” Every customer would then ponder this question and let me know. I had to have asked that question thousands of times and yet, I was never scared.

So why is it that I hesitate to do this in the Direct Sales Market? (*pondering*) All I was doing then is suggesting something that the customer might enjoy, so in that aspect, I would be doing the same thing.

My suggestion to you is to come up with some complimentary items, or just a hot seller or one that you know people like. When your cutovers are ordering, simply ask, would you like to add _ _ _ _ _ _ today? Then they will answer you yes or no. If they say no, you still have the original sale and haven’t lost anything. If they say yes, well, you just added to your total sale.

Easy, practical, financially beneficial.

One bite at a time

Filed under: customers — Awnya Boam @ 11:56 am

The other day I made some phone calls.  I can’t say that they were the most productive calls that I’ve ever made.  Actually, I don’t think that I even got a live person on the other end, just machines…BUT  I did it!  I have been putting off these particular calls for about 2 weeks.  I don’t know why I didn’t want to just make them and get it over with.  After I was done though, the most amazing thing happened…I was excited.  I was energized by taking the time to just make the calls!  So what did I do?  I picked up the phone and made more calls.

I guess it is true what they say “The best way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time”…..and who knows, you might take that first bite and find you like it!  Then you won’t be able to stop!

Resources for Your Business

Filed under: MUST READ Books — Awnya Boam @ 5:51 am

Well, I have been doing a lot of website improvements and reading both before the birth of my 3rd child and after.  It has been difficult not to jump right back into business, but I want to enjoy my little one because they only stay little for such a short time.  There are a few resources that I wanted to share with anyone who is looking to improve their business and or website.  First is the book “See You at the Top” by Zig Zigglar.  This book focuses on attitudes and self perceptions.  I have loved this book for many years and find applications for it in my personal and professional life all the time.

The second resource I want to point out is one that I have refered to before, but I think that it is highly worth the time and effort that are put into it.  The Cricket classes on Search Engine Optimization (SEO) are wonderful!  The classes are free and have helped many people with their websites and search engine placement.  I have so many good things to say that I don’t know where to start.  Let me just say that when I DID start her classes there was so many things I didn’t know and now I am slowly learning and applying them.  It is easy to get overwhelmed in creating and maintaining a website, but at least I know that I am now doing it in a SEO friendly way, thanks to Cricket and her classes.  If you are interested and/or want more information, visit  http://www.gnc-web-creations.com/web-training.htm

Good luck!!
