Take Action Social Media online course

Filed under: Business, Direct Sales, SEO, Sales, Twitter, Wordpress, facebook, social media, time managment — Awnya Boam @ 12:12 pm

Today I want to tell you about an amazing course that I’ve recently enrolled in called Take Action Social Media. It is an online course that you can do at your own pace presented by Karen Clark.   If you are looking to learn anything about facebook, twitter, linked in, facebook fanpages, or even a blog, this course is one you should definitely take!

I have tried several other courses and listened to other speakers in Social Media before and they were informative but I felt like I didn’t have any action steps or that I had to pay even more to get help with the step by step processes. With Karen and her Take Action Social Media course she gets down to the steps you need to do to get yourself out there in social media. She has self evaluations where you will evaluate yourself and your progress so that you know where you need to start. She shows you how to find things like Insights for your fanpage so that you can actually SEE the difference that the course is making for you.

In addition to all the wonderful information that you will get through the course itself, Karen hosts a monthly webinar where you can come and ask any questions you have about social media. She walks you through the answers and helps you to understand the inner workings of Social Media.

The best part of the Take Action Social Media course is the cost. I have tried other courses that gave a lot less information and paid more to take them! The cost for the course is really, really low and you get SO much from it.

So take a look at the course and what it can offer you.  Harness the power of the internet to grow your business or get you more exposure.  You won’t be sorry that you did. Again, the link is http://www.TakeActionSocialMedia.com.

Mary Christensen

Filed under: Business, Direct Sales, MUST READ Books, goals — Awnya Boam @ 9:34 am

One of my favorite speaker/trainers recently came to the Salt Lake City, UT area and spoke to a group of us. Her name is Mary Christensen. She is a down to earth, caring woman who’s advise and things she teaches are so easy that even I can do them :o) She teaches the things she has learned over years and years in Direct Sales and Party Plan.

Her website Mary Christensen.com has a newsletter you can subscribe to as well as her books and CD’s that you can order.

I wish I could tell you how much I love the things this lady teaches. She has helped my business SO much over the 3 years that I have been following what I have learned from her. Try it! You will be surprised how simple, yet effective everything she teaches is.

And, she is still on tour for 2011, so check and see if she is coming to your area soon!

DSWA Celebration

Filed under: Business, DSWA, Direct Sales, Dreams, Motivation, goals, quote — Awnya Boam @ 10:01 am

If there is 1 thing that you can do for your business, may I suggest getting involved in the DSWA (Direct Selling Women’s Alliance). They are an organization dedicated to the Direct Selling individuals to help uplift and educate us to be the best we can be. We just finished with the national Celebration for this year, but there are local chapters in most areas that meet often and they also are having regional meetings coming up, so check them out.

Some of the things that struck a cord with me this weekend are:

“A leader knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way” - John Maxwell

“Our chief want is someone who will inspire us to be what we know we could be.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson

Don’t wait for someone else to believe in you. Believe in yourself!

We always compare our worst to other people’s best. Don’t compare. Be the best you that you can be.

“You are your greatest asset and you are the only one who can use that asset. ” -Julie Ziglar Norman

Service always comes before sales

I’m looking for people who are looking for me.

We learn more in challenging times that in times of ease.

“You can have whatever you want by helping enough people get what they want. ” -Zig Ziglar

So there is a quick glimpse at some of what I learned this weekend. I have an entire notebook full of notes and quotes and new steps to take to improve my business. My heart is full and so is my head. I met so many wonderful, powerful, amazing women (and a few men) this weekend and can’t wait for the next DSWA event.

Morning boost

Filed under: Direct Sales, Motivation — Awnya Boam @ 10:23 am

What do you do each day to get your morning started the right way? How do you make sure that you are in a positive, giving, energized spirit to start your day?

Around my house with the 4 kiddos and craziness that exists here on a daily basis, it hasn’t been easy. To start with, I look at my “I Am” statements (positive affirmations) and then I think of someone I want to thank or appreciate. I send them a hand written card to let them know I care. With that done, I try to take some time to read and/or blog before things get too crazy. I find that when I do get these things accomplished, my day goes a lot more smoothly and I am a better mother because I am mentally prepared for my day.

So again I ask, what do you do to start your day in a positive way?

Direct Sales Tele-classes and Training

Filed under: Business, DSWA, Direct Sales, Motivation, Sales — Awnya Boam @ 2:04 pm

There is a wonderful resource that has just been opened up to the public! The DSWA (Direct Selling Women’s Alliance) has weekly tele-classes that highlight areas that most Direct Sellers are interested in. The speakers and trainers are all leaders in their respective companies and are sharing proven strategies with US!!
To find out what classes are coming up, visit the DSWA Tele-classes calendar to see what they have coming up, or sign up for their weekly Ezine to get it delivered right to your Inbox.

Another great option, if you don’t have the opportunity to listen live is to listen and even download the tele-classes! You can then listen to them at your convenience on your phone or Mp3 player or burn it to a CD and listen to it in the car. I love this option and use it all the time~ To have the ability to do this, you do have to be a DSWA member. Be sure to mention I sent you when you sign up. Trust me, it is WELL worth your investment!!

Promptings by Cody Bateman

Filed under: Business, Direct Sales, MUST READ Books, Motivation, customers — Awnya Boam @ 2:25 pm

Lately I’ve been listening to a book on tape called Promptings by Cody Bateman. It is a wonderful book about being your best self and about following your inner promptings. (I highly recommend reading it!)

While I was listening, it made me reflect on the ways that I follow the promptings or even the opportunities that I create to have promptings come into my life. This could be as simple as sending a thank you card or a thinking of you card to someone or following up with someone from an event that you happened to meet. It could be calling to check in with someone on your team or downline or reaching out to someone who has inspired you in some way.

My challenge to you is to pick 1 way in your life that you can inspire others today and try to start out by doing it at least once a week. See what kinds of amazing things begin to happen in your life :o)

The Square

I have discovered the most amazing little gadget in the world! (or at least it is to me at the moment) It is the Square. No, I’m not being facetious. It is a small credit card reader that plugs into the headphone jack on your iPhone or Droid (other smart phones too). It will read cards and you can charge them on the spot! If you are taking the order over the phone or something, you can also key in the card number. Digital signing too. The card is then charged and the money deposited into the account of your choosing! AMAZING!

I have been looking into a credit card processing system for my new business http://www.30daylady.com where I sell books and ebooks. I needed to process them at an affordable rate and many other card processing companies wanted a monthly fee and/or equipment rental fee, and/or setup fee, etc., but not Square! The only fees you get is when you actually process the card, and those are even lower than most of the “other guys” I checked out.

It is so easy to use. Download the app and sign up. I went online to add an avatar, email and my banking info and bam! Ready to go!

If you need to process credit cards for your business, you totally need to check out the Square. It will rock your world! :o)

DSWA Leadership Retreat

Filed under: Business, DSWA, Direct Sales, Motivation, Twitter, social media — Awnya Boam @ 8:35 am

I am currently in San Diego California at the DSWA (Direct Selling Women’s Alliance) Leadership Retreat. It has only been 5 hours in classes and I have learned so much! I truly believe that attending the DSWA Celebration or Leadership is the single best thing that you can do for you Direct Sales business.

We have over 647 years of experience here at the leadership retreat! In addition to all the classes the PEOPLE that are here are absolutely amazing! I have made new friends and connections that will last a lifetime. Everyone is SO positive and caring. They know that when THEY succeed, you succeed.

I have attended so many other meetings where the intentions of the attendees are less than pure. In comparison, the DSWA meetings are centered around education and caring for each other.

If you haven’t checked it out, visit DSWA.org or get tips from the retreat in real time on Twitter with the hashtag #dswalr. There are several of us tweeting some gems. :o)

Direct Sales Roller Coaster

Filed under: Business, Direct Sales, Motivation, customers — Awnya Boam @ 10:31 am

If you have ever been in Direct Sales, you will know exactly what I’m talking about. Sometimes business is booming. Customers seem to be falling from the sky. Parties or appointments come easily and you may even be adding people to your organization.

And then for no apparent reason…

Nothing. Everything seems to stop. You feel like you have failed. Leads don’t pan out. People won’t call you back. Sales drop…
Sound familiar?

If not, I am so glad to hear it! If so, welcome to the wonderful world of Direct Sales. It is completely natural for you to have highs and lows in your business. The important thing is what you choose to do about it. Do you sit on your couch moping and hoping? Do you get out and pound the pavement and look for new people to talk to? Do you sit home and wonder what you are doing wrong or do you read new books, listen to tele-classes or take trainings to improve yourself?

The truth is, no matter what happens, you are going to have times of plenty and times of …not so plenty. Sometimes it is because of the season, a move, a life change (like a baby, graduation, death, etc.), or even just the time of the month. The difference is, those who survive these down times are the ones who push through it and get to work.

So which will you do- push through the tough times or simply give up?
